VOCs (Volotile Organic Compounds) are an inhaled form of pollution present in many indoor environments, and can cause Sick Building Syndrome.
Offices with indoor plants (as compared to offices without plants) reduce symtoms of Sick Building Syndrome by 20%.
The NASA space program discovered that indoor plants remove Volatile Organic Compounds from polluted air.
Landscapes and green spaces near buildings and streets can reduce water pollution by absorbing the chemicals and debris that would normally flow into nearby streams.
Some common indoor plants not only provide oxygen and transpiration, they remove toxic agents such as benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene from the air.
